Women's Tennis Caps Fall Slate vs. National Competition

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Otterbein women's tennis team capped off its fall slate with a pair of invitationals to end September, competing at Denison and then venturing down to ITA Regionals in St. Louis.

------
The Cardinals picked up more reps against heightened competition over in Granville by taking on Case Western Reserve, Centre and the host Big Red in dual competitions.

Otterbein got the better of Centre individually by going 6-1 in singles, and then splitting four doubles matches. Erin Storrer, Lillia Walter and Cassady Shough were double winners against the Colonels.

The Cards were nearly blanked by national power Case and then Denison, but Storrer/Walter came up with a huge victory over the top DU doubles team of Dasha Chistyakova/Caroline Lopez by an 8-4 margin.

-------

Otterbein then traveled down to The Show Me State for the annual ITA Regionals. Storrer and Walter competed in the main singles draw while multiple Cardinal duos laced up in the doubles section.

Storrer made the Round of 16 following wins against Kenyon No. 3 Shadia Amado Aguad and Chistyakova from Denison once again. She was then eliminated by CWRU standout Hannah Kassaie.

Walter dropped a tough opening-round task vs. Shianna Guo from U Chicago, but responded to best Caroline Lopez (DU) in the consolation ladder. That was followed by a 6-3, 6-2 loss against Katherine Taylor of Transylvania.

Shough and newcomer Taryn Simmers also took part individually, each snagging a victory in a separate draw.

Storrer/Walter went 3-1 in the main doubles section with triumphs over teams from Kenyon, Augustana and Wooster. Rachelle Moses and Olivia Eckels exacted some revenge vs. a team from Lake Forest and an initial loss, and then went to a breaker against North Central but came up short.

LOOKING AHEAD:

The Cardinals will now regroup over winter time before turning sights on a third-consecutive OAC title.
