FINAL RESULTS
MAYFIELD, Ohio – It was a tough task for the Otterbein women's tennis team in its spring debut on Saturday afternoon, as the Cardinals squared up with No. 12-ranked Case Western Reserve at the Mayfield Village Racquet Club.
The Cards fell by a 9-0 count, but stayed competitive in a handful of matches/sets near the top lines to gain valuable experience early in the calendar.
Erin Storrer and
Lillia Walter dropped an 8-4 decision (at first doubles) against the CWRU tandem of Hannah Kassaie and Lily McCloskey, a duo that made the NCAA Quarterfinals last year before falling to the No. 2 seed from UChicago.
Storrer, who competed in the NCAA Singles Championships last spring, then fell (6-2, 6-4) against McCloskey in the top individual showdown.
Walter came up short in a 6-3, 6-1 contest to Radha Patel at No. 2 singles while
Rachelle Moses,
Olivia Eckels,
Aubrey McMahon,
Cassady Shough and
Julia Gillin al laced up as well.
The Cardinals competed without first team All-OAC standout
Emma Henson, who typically plays first doubles and third singles.
Otterbein will have another non-conference matchup next Friday, heading up to take on the College of Wooster at Aspen Racquet Club.
