ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Otterbein women's tennis team cruised on the road Saturday afternoon, staying unbeaten within conference play after a convincing 9-0 decision at host Mount Union.
The Cardinals, beating the Purple Raiders for a sixth-consecutive meeting, have now won all three OAC matches via shutout this spring. Otterbein also stands 9-5 overall as a result.
Otterbein wasted no time making its presence felt by sweeping all three doubles matches on lopsided 8-0 margins. The Cards then turned around to claim all six bouts in the singles portion…
Erin Storrer (1) and
Olivia Eckels (6), who also teamed together on the top doubles line, delivered a pair of 6-0, 6-0 shutouts on their respective courts.
Lillia Walter (6-1, 6-1) emerged nearly unscathed on the second line while
Cassady Shough (6-2, 6-0) also only dropped two games over at No. 4 singles.
Aubrey McMahon won 6-3 in her first set before keeping her opponent off the board in a 6-0 second frame.
Rachelle Moses had to grind out a narrow 7-5 first set midway through the lineup at third single, but settled in nicely for a more comfortable 6-2 effort in the following set.
Otterbein has the middle of this coming week off before playing Marietta on Good Friday, with first serve on campus scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
