WESTRVILLE, Ohio - For the second year in a row, the Otterbein women's tennis team has captured the Ohio Athletic Conference regular-season championship.
The Cardinals finished off a perfect OAC sweep in convincing fashion on Friday afternoon, bouncing John Carroll by a score of 7-2 in a match that started outdoors and ended indoors. Otterbein now stands7-0 against the league and 13-6 overall.
Otterbein began the day by sweeping doubles action outdoors by scores of 8-4, 8-4 and 8-5.
The Cards carried that momentum into singles as first team All-OAC standouts
Erin Storrer (6-0, 6-1) and
Lillia Walter (6-0, 6-0) cruised in their matchups atop the board.
John Carroll won its points at third and fifth singles, but Otterbein secured the other two courts by way of
Cassady Shough (7-5, 6-1) and
Olivia Eckels (6-1, 6-0) to leave little doubt in the final decision.
Otterbein will now be the top seed in next week's OAC Tournament, earning a bye through the quarterfinals and ultimately playing a semifinal contest down in Mason.
