WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein Women's Tennis program will make its second-straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Championships later this weekend, opening against Kenyon College (at 2 p.m.) as part of a six-team regional being hosted at Carnegie Mellon University.
The NCAA announced all 49 qualifiers to the national bracket late Monday morning, beginning at regional sites before the remaining eight teams converge at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida come May 14.
Otterbein, 15-6 overall, received another automatic bid from the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) after sweeping through the league's regular season and tournament once again. The Cardinals took down Ohio Northern 5-2 in the title match and will be making the program's third appearance ever in the Big Dance.
Kenyon, 18-4 this year, beat No. 19-ranked Denison in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship by a 5-3 final. The Owls are ranked No. 32 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll and are back in the national event for a 23rd time.
This will be just the third matchup between Otterbein and Kenyon in the last decade, with the Owls earning non-conference victories in 2014 and 2022. The winner advances to play No. 18-ranked New York University in Friday's second round.
Carnegie Mellon, Hope and North Central are also in the regional pod. Stay tuned for more coverage in the next few days!
