FINAL RESULTS
WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The path remained clear and comfortable for the Otterbein women's tennis team on campus Saturday afternoon, as the Cards stayed perfect early on in league play with yet another shutout victory.
This time around, the group blanked Mount Union (9-0) for a third consecutive meeting in moving to 9-4 overall this season.
Doubles action was not necessarily smooth sailing as each Cardinal tandem had to work for their victories, but did just that by the time it was said and done.
Erin Storrer and
Olivia Eckels, along with
Lillia Walter and
Aubrey McMahon, emerged by 8-4 counts to work down the board.
Julia Gillin and
Rachelle Moses were one game better with an 8-3 finish.
That set the stage for a fairly dominant singles portion as Otterbein swept all six courts… which included perfect 6-0, 6-0 shutouts from Eckels and McMahon at the fifth/sixth positions.
Walter, Moses and
Cassady Shough all emerged in straight sets, but the most notable outcome perhaps rested at first singles in another showdown of top OAC standouts...
Erin Storrer, reigning 3x Player of the Year, bested former John Carroll ace Megan Reese handily by counts of 6-1, 6-1. Reese (transferring to Mount this past offseason) handed Storrer the only conference loss of her career back during the COVID spring of 2021 before the Otterbein star has since avenged that defeat multiple times.
Otterbein will have a full week off before continuing the push forward in league play, taking on Marietta next weekend.
