OBERLIN, OHIO — The Otterbein women's tennis team wrapped up its regular season on Sunday with a non-conference matchup against No. 71 Oberlin College at the Hunsinger Courts. The Yeowomen earned a 7-0 victory, as the Cardinals concluded the regular season with a 5-9 overall record.
Oberlin secured the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. In the No. 2 flight,
Niya Bell and
Caitlin Pennington pushed their opponents before ultimately falling 6-3 to Stella Kollmansberger and Olivia Wollner.
The Yeowomen maintained their momentum in singles play.
Breanna Ball was defeated by Kollmansberger, 6-1, 7-5, while Scarlett Kingston followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Bell. At No. 3 singles, Pennington battled Rachel Allen in a competitive first set before Allen pulled away for a 7-5, 6-0 victory.
Molly Jones and Freya Rahm squared off in a tightly contested match at No. 4 singles, but Oberlin clinched the team point with Rahm's 7-6, 6-0 win.
Raina Smith rounded out the Cardinals' lineup, falling to Olivia Guzman by scores of 6-3, 6-0.
Otterbein now turns its attention to the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament after clinching the No. 2 seed. The Cardinals will face Capital University on Friday, May 1, at the Lindner Family Tennis Center, with first serve set for 1 p.m.
