BEXLEY, Ohio-The Otterbein University women's tennis team got back on the winning track, shutting down Capital University, 9-0, Monday in Bexley.

With the win, Otterbein, 6-4 overall, evened its Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) record to 1-1. The Cardinals opened OAC play with a 5-4 loss to the University of Mount Union March 21.

"After our loss to Mount Union we refocused," said Otterbein head coach Pat Anderson.

The Cardinals also had the services of Rylie Markle, who returned to the lineup after missing the last six matches due to an injury.

"Six weeks off with a stress fracture, Rylie didn't miss a beat in doubles," Anderson said "It is nice to have her back in action."

Otterbein swept through doubles and the rout was on. Markle and Sammi Kruger won No. 1 doubles, 8-1. Emma Krummel and Adrien Leatherwood took No. 2 doubles, 8-2, and Emily Quill and Sophia Navas-Davis won No. 3 doubles, 8-1.

"The conditions were pretty windy so it was important to stay on top of the ball," Anderson said. "I thought doubles did just that."

The Cardinals continued their domination in singles with Krummel playing the closest match, a 7-5, 6-1 win on court two.

The other five points came from Kruger, a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles; Leatherwood, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3; Emily Harper, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4; Megan Locke, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5; and Navas-Davis, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.

"I thought the singles came out strong and never looked back," Anderson said.

Otterbein is scheduled to be back on the courts Tuesday, hosting Marietta College at 3:30 p.m.
