WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Cardinal women's tennis team extended its winning streak to five-straight with a 9-0Â shutout of Muskingum on Saturday in its Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) opener at the Sanders Tennis Courts.
Otterbein (8-2 overall) is now 1-0 in conference play and has posted a shutout in four of its last five matches, having lost just one match so far this spring. The Cardinals will travel to Baldwin Wallace next Saturday for a first serve of 1 p.m. in Berea, Ohio.Â
The Cards jumped out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping all three doubles matches by an 8-1 margin, led off by a win in third-doubles from sophomore
Megan Yates and freshman
Marriella Briones.
Senior
Rylie Markle and freshman
Makayla Sutter followed with a win first-doubles, before juniors
Sophia Navas-Davis and
Emily Quill closed out doubles competition in the second spot.
Singles play began with a pair of 6-0, 6-0 wins beginning with freshman
Megan Stuteville in sixth-singles over Sydney McDaniel, while Markle followed with her own defeat of Elizabeth Knauss in the top spot.
Navas-Davis then took down Elisabeth Kuhn 6-0, 6-3 in fourth-singles, before sophomore
Sophie Allen triumphed over Lindsay Brindack 6-1, 6-2 in third-singles.
Briones and Sutter wrapped up the scoring for the Cards owning a 6-1, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-1 margin, respectively.
