Storrer Ends Sophomore Campaign in NCAA Round of 32

ORLANDO, Fla. – A memorable sophomore season for budding star Erin Storrer came to a close Friday afternoon at the NCAA Division III Singles Championships, where she dropped a tough opening match in the Round of 32 at USTA National Campus.

Storrer, drawing No. 5-ranked Sarah Pertsemlidis from MIT to begin the bracket, competed admirably but just didn't quite have enough in falling 6-1, 6-1. She ends her season with a 22-6 overall record after becoming the first Cardinal to even be selected for the individual tournament.

"It was really cool to be here in an event where people can all play… from everywhere around the country," Storrer began. "I'm proud of reaching this point and seeing how achieving one goal can translate to others…

"Knowing I had my teammates and coaches behind me with so much support made it easy to push for every point," added Storrer, still just a teenager at 19-years old. "It was also a great experience to spend extra time with my coaches and build on what we already had."

Pertsemlidis, improving to 14-2 this year, captured 56 of 84 total points in the match and secures All-American honors with a spot in the Sweet 16. She also won 28 of 35 first-serve points while Storrer finished with a 21 of 49 output in the same category.

"Despite the final score, like always, I'm really proud of E," head coach Tyler Stephen said. "It was the biggest national stage in tennis and she represented our school with the attitude and effort she also brings to the table."

Storrer helped lead Otterbein to its first Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championships since 2015 last month, as the Cardinals swept through the regular season and tournament en route to settling with a 19-5 record. They made the NCAA second round in Atlanta.
